Warren T. Quinlan, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the VA Hospital in Brockton. He was 71.

Born in Boston, he was raised in Roxbury and was the son of the late Bernard and Eleanor (Travaglia) Quinlan.

Warren enlisted in the United States Army on November 3, 1965 and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War earning the rank of SP5-Buck Sergeant; Warren was the last Buck Sergeant before the Army dissolved the rank. He was honorably discharged on July 5, 1969.

Following his honorable discharge, Warren had many careers. The career he loved most was working for the New England Shelter For Homeless Veterans. He served as the Director of Operations as well as Clinical Services and took great pride in his position. Warren had an active role in erecting the shelter on Court Street in Boston, and up to the day he died, was fighting for the rights of veterans. Warren made a life-long commitment to helping veterans at all levels: personally, practically and professionally. It was his goal to make himself available to help and support anyone who served their country.

In his spare time, Warren enjoyed woodworking, drawing and playing golf. Warren loved trees and found it worthy to spend time communing with them. His allegiance was to Mother Nature and felt our fate was entwined with hers. healthy and safe for future generations. Warren’s love for his family and humanity defined him best. He was the type of person that could connect with anyone he met. Everyone was Warren’s neighbor and he had the innate ability to reach right in and touch a persons heart. Warren could make everyone laugh and always made a point to help someone feel comfortable and welcome.

Warren’s kindness, love and generosity will be missed by all the lives he touched. His legacy of life lessons, love and selflessness continue through his children, grandchildren and friends.

Warren is survived by his beloved Tina, with whom he shared many loving years. He was the devoted father of Philip Barrineau of Natick, Brian Quinlan and his partner Kerri Murphy of Quincy, Jason Quinlan and his wife Julie of Weymouth and the late Emily Quinlan. Warren was the loving grandfather of Kalaigh Keenan, Owen Quinlan, Ryan Quinlan, Conor Quinlan, Ava Quinlan, Jacqueline Quinlan, Maisey Quinlan and Charlie Quinlan. He was the dear brother of Bernie, Ellie, Jimmy, Billy, Margaret, Charlie, Ann Marie, Kathleen, Gina, Bobby, Chris and John. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Warren was preceded in death by his siblings Dick, Pat, Mary Lou and Michael.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday, January 2nd from  2 through 7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.

His funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, January 3rd at 11 AM in the Mount Auburn Cemetery Story Chapel, 580 Mt. Auburn St., CAMBRIDGE.

Interment will be held privately at a later date.
