Robert E. Foy III

Foy, Robert E., III a lifelong Quincy resident, died January 27, 2018. The beloved husband of 65 years to the late Mildred (Duggan) Foy. Father of Robert E. Foy, IV of Hanover, Mary Rooney of Quincy, Nancy Capis of Washington, Geralyn Page of Quincy and the late Susan and Jane Foy. Brother of the late Richard Foy. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Bob grew up in Quincy. He attended St. John’s Elementary School, Quincy High School and graduated from Boston College with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting in 1948. He served in the United States Army. In 1972, Mayor Walter Hannon appointed Bob as City Treasurer. In 1982, he was elected City Auditor and served honorably until he retired in 1999. Bob was also a member of Quincy Retirement Board, Quincy Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, William B. Rice Eventide Home Board of Directors, Quincy Neighborhood Housing Services Board of Directors, Mass. Treasurers/Collectors Association, Norfolk County Financial Officers and Norfolk County Accountants/Auditors Association.

In years past, he enjoyed golf, bowling and was an avid Boston College Sports Fan. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Bob will be sadly missed by his family and a grateful City where he served for so many years.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob may be made to Quincy Rotary Scholarship Fund, c/o Colonial Federal Savings Bank, 15 Beach Street, Quincy, MA 02170.
