Condolences to the Family of Harold S. Crowley Jr.

2024

I am so sorry to hear about Harold's passing! He was so extremely helpful in guiding me through the retirement process, and he did the same for all of my retired teacher friends. I ran into complications with the MTRS in my retirement process and Harold went to bat for me, connecting me with an MTA attorney. I won my case which has made all of the difference in making my retirement happy and secure. Harold made a significant difference in my life for which I am eternally grateful!!!

I met Harold once when I was planning to retire and was advised by many to “go see Harold Crowley.” I did and he gave me all the help I needed to get every last penny to which I was entitled for my pension. He also gave me advice for having a good retirement and spoke about his own love of theater and how he went to many plays each year. He was a lovely kind man, and I’m grateful I got to spend an hour with him.

Harold is fondly remembered by staff of the Tsongas Industrial History Center as one of the founding teacher-advisors of our unique partnership (Lowell National Historical Park/UMass Lowell) and a key part of its success. He was a great supporter of the TIHC (and of Old Sturbridge Village). His playful spirit, remarkable intelligence, and willingness to help others was an inspiration to us all. Harold's legacy will live on, but we will miss him dearly.

I only met Harold in the few years preceding my retirement and it was well known that Harold was the go-to person to help sort it out. He was wonderful, kind, and thorough and got me through all the complications. I am indebted to him. And as I read through his obituary and take note of his life, I'll add, what a guy! Thank you Harold. Rest in peace. Laura M.

Harold Crowley helped me through my retirement in 2015. He came highly recommended by other retired educators. I remember I brought my laptop with me thinking we would go online and plug in the numbers. He told me to put it away, and he was going to figure it out. He did it all on my hand, and I was amazed how easily he moved through it all. I am grateful for all he did for me and other educators. He is a legend, and he will be missed condolences to all of you. He made a difference in his long and storied career.

Thoughts and prayers to the Crowley family. As a member of the Quincy School Committee, I had the pleasure to interact with Harold on many occasions. He was always a gentleman and willing to lend a hand to any endeavor. Superintendent Gene Creedon also hired Harold to write the history of the Quincy Public Schools. I believe I had the two volumes somewhere at my house. Such a sweet man, he was.

It has been my pleasure to work for and with Harold for over a dozen years. He was always available to answer any questions I had. His kindness and availability was extraordinary. Sadly we had spoken about getting together after he retired but unfortunately he passed before we could do so. It will be very hard to duplicate what Harold has done for all his consultants. Rest in Peace Harold Ron Lech

Harold was a wonderful man. I often gave his name and phone number to coworkers that were navigating the retirement process. His calm and easy way will be sorely missed.

Mr. Crowley was a gem. He met with me several times before my retirement from Brockton Public Schools. He made the whole process so much easier and answered every question I had. I just recommended a week ago that a colleague speak with him, though I thought he must have been long retired. My sincere condolences to his family, his friends, colleagues and former students. Harold’s kindness and professional knowledge helped me very much.

So sorry to hear about Harold’s passing. We taught together for many years at Broad Meadows as part of the new sixth grade middle school concept. My fondest memories are the many Grade Six camping trips every spring to Camp Massasoit. His organizational skills were known throughout Quincy and his dedication to Quincy teachers through the QEA are legendary. I sent so many people to him in his role as a retirement specialist. Harold was one of a kind and he will be missed by so many people. Rest In Peace, Harold. Ray Joyal

Harold was a source of constant support during my 15 years as President of the Quincy Education Association. He knew everybody, it seemed, and was wise in his counsel. He advised countless QEA members, including me, about retirement issues. I owe him a phonecall, that I’ll never get to make. In QEA, Harold is a legend. We are poorer for his loss. Ave atque vale, old friend!

My Abington friends & I were all kindly & efficiently helped by Harold as we approached our respective retirements. One by one, as our turn came, we made our trek to his office & were expertly guided & advised. We all speak of him often & know he will never be replaced. We remember him & pray that he may rest in peace.

Harold was such a wonderful neighbor. We always enjoyed our conversations with him whether about the neighborhood or the goings on in the schools. He just recently called to check on our 95 yr old parents who still live next door. He is a great loss. Danny, our deepest sympathy. Love, The Duggan’s

Hearing the news of Harold's passing brought both sadness and a flood of amazing memories of my childhood, and just how much he meant to me. My life changed that day when I joined Troop 20, and he became my Scoutmaster. One of my proudest days was having him as my special guest at my Eagle Court of Honor. Memories of Camp Massasoit both as a young scout and part of his Campmaster team are some of the best experiences as I was growing up. I can still remember my first camping trip with Troop 20, as a new Tenderfoot Scout, where as was his tradition, personally showed me how to build and light a fire...a tradition I carried on as a leader myself for many years. He inspired me to serve my country and to be an active participant in my community. He left a legacy of service and kindness to both Scouting and Quincy School System. I will miss him, his powerful mentorship, and his kindness to everyone he met were his trademark. Rest in peace my dear friend...you made a difference to me and so many of my friends. Sending my deepest condolences to the Crowley family as we all remember and celebrate Harold and an amazing legacy.

To the Crowley Family: We are heartbroken ! Please accept our deepest condolences at this sad time. Harold was a wonderful man. He spent his life doing good for others. From his years as a teacher, to his career with the MTA , he was respected and admired. Harold was a part of our lives since 1977, and we quickly became “Family By Choice”. Through the years we made a lot of wonderful memories, for which we will always be thankful. We are thinking of you all, and sending our love and prayers. We are holding you close in our thoughts. God Bless. Rest easy Harold. Your Newfoundland family will miss you, and love you forever. Maxine, Charlie, Lee, Katie & girls. 💔💔💔.
