Many years ago, my Godfather; Jack Dunn, shared that in life there isn’t much that you have control over. I remember vividly him saying to me one day while at a family party on Kimball Beach Road, “You can step on dog—— with one shoe, only to step in it again with the other shoe!” However, he shared with me that day, character and integrity while not tangible, they are something that you can control, something that no one can take from you. All these years later, as we prepare to say our goodbyes to my Godfather’s son; my cousin, Johnny Dunn, I am in awe at the true exemplar John was to character and integrity. His was a life that demonstrated beyond approach the strength of character, the foundational pillars of integrity, the true essence and beauty of a live well-lived. John placed family above all else. He was the consummate son, brother, husband, DAD. He was loyal, dedicated, and like the lyrics from a song from our Disco Days, he was ‘Solid as a Rock!” His friendship was more valuable than gold, his heart as pure as heaven. As we say our goodbyes today, we know that those who have gone before him will be singing hymns of ‘We Are Family,’ at the Pearly……(who are we kidding) …. Irish-Green Gate and that for those of us with earthly roots, ‘“He will never be forgotten!” But most of all, this holiday season in our hearts we will have a gift of a lifetime, the true example of character and integrity that Johnny gave us.

My condolences to the Dunn family. John will be missed by everyone and especially in the airport business. He was an honest man, a kind man, a mentor and a friend. John thank you for giving me the chance to know you. Rest in Peace
