Phyllis was always a cheerful, welcoming hostess when Walter's assistant coaches visited their home on Sunday evenings during football season to review Saturday's game film and go over our scouting reports of future opponents. No matter how late we stayed, and it was quite late some Sunday evenings, Mrs. Anderson always made sure we had enough soda, coffee, hot chocolate and , of course, her alway delicious homemade goodies to help us through the evening. A wonderful lady and perfect coach's wife. No matter how late we stayed ,

Dear Judy, Allyson, Rick, Sara, Tim, Amy and Family, I was heartbroken to learn your beautiful, caring, witty Mother and my special neighbor passed away. The last time she visited before she moved, she drove one house over to my home to bring me a plate of cookies. I have missed her since! I was thinking of her this weekend. While reading over her last newsletter, I was thinking of the message I would send to her in my Thanksgiving card and was shocked to learn she died on Monday. One special event that comes to mind was the day we attended the Kentucky Derby Party at the Andersons with your parents, Wendy, your family and neighbors. We were all decked out in fancy hats while enjoying your Mom's delicious appetizers and desserts. Our Mom's shared a common thread. Your Mom appreciated stories of my Mom's experiences while serving in WWII in the Naval Nurses Corps. I would be remiss in not mentioning your Dad and his relationship with my husband, Russell, who died in 2016, a little over a year after Andy. Russell missed Andy. He had enjoyed sharing their love of fishing and stories. However, your Dad's tales came in as number one. No matter how much deep sea equipment Russell purchased, he never landed a tuna! He was always impressed with the way Andy extended the season. Russ would walk in the house in the spring and say, "Andy is already out in his boat," or in the fall with, "I can't believe Andy is still out in his boat!!!!" I have a living memorial in my yard, a gift from Andy and Phyllis. One day I looked out the window to see them coming up my driveaway pulling a wagon filled with baby holly bushes taken from their hedge. We planted them along my stone wall where they are thriving. I enjoy adding the berries to my Christmas centerpieces and looking out every winter at the luscious green bushes thick with red berries. They look especially beautiful in the snow. I will treasure them always! You are in my thoughts during this sad time. I will miss your Mom and receiving her lovely newsletters. I was so lucky to have known her and shared this lovely neighborhood with her. Love, Kathy Tomasetti

Phyllis was a very special lady. She and Walter warmly welcomed us to the East Dennis neighborhood back in 2006 with muffins, fishing tips and invites to their famous Kentucky Derby parties. We miss them both.
