Condolences to the Family of Hilary Grace MacDonald

2020

To the MacDonald family-My deepest condolences. I am very to hear about your loss of your daughter. I was Hilary's advisor at the university and got to know her through her strong will to succeed as an engineering student. From one parent to another, my prayers are with you.

Scott - We were so saddened to hear the news of your tragic loss. Although we never had the pleasure of meeting Hilary, reading about her vivacious personality and the way she lived life to the fullest has touched us deeply. The world truly was a better place because of Hilary and her spirit will endure forever. Genuine care transcends a business relationship so please know that your extended Canadian "family" grieves with you, Marianne, Luke and your loved ones at this sad time. With our most heartfelt sympathies, Les, Kelly, Gloria and the Bimbo Canada team

Scott and Marianne, Please know that you are in my thoughts and I want to extend my sympathy to you. There is no way to understand why a vibrant 19 year old daughter would have to face an illness like this. If there is anything I can do to help you and your family get through this, please ask, Ken (and Mitzi) Gilbert

We always knew when Hilary was in the house -the old quiet place sprang to life with girls running up and down the stairs, peals of laughter, new homecoming and prom dresses being unwrapped and tried on, sweatshirts and sneakers piled up by the kitchen door, jewelry making supplies covering bedroom floors, overnight and beach bags stuffed full for sleepovers in her barn or down at someone’s beachside home in Duxbury. Then there was the way she opened up the world to us: the vacations the girls were always planning together (Europe, South America, Hawaii, Utah, California, Colorado, Arizona...), visiting colleges, then off to college together out West like some great all-American story full of cross-country road trips, a Jeep packed full of their collective most treasured objects...the road, world and their futures in front of them. You were not one of our daughters Hilary, but you know we always felt you were, and wanted you to be. You brought joy, love, color, beauty, and laughter into our lives and our home. From the first time we met you when you climbed up onto our home made Girl Scout float on that long ago Fourth of July when you girls first met, to the last time we saw you - you were that radiant, funny, beautiful, remarkably strong girl next door who reminded us that people and life were good. You will forever be our daughters’ best friend and our honorary adopted child. Forever in our hearts, we will meet you on the other side.

The smile she has in that picture is just infectious. Seeing her smiling face and reading how much she enjoyed life is a lesson for all of us. She definitely has a legacy that will carry on and although nothing anyone can say will fill the hole in your hearts, the memories and smiles you have from all the happy, fun and crazy times you had together are so precious. It's amazing the impact she had on her family and friends. Every time I saw a picture of Hilary, I would say how she was the spitting image of Marianne. She will always be part of you. We will be holding all of you close in our thoughts and remembering Hilary and everything good that she brought to this earth.

Dear Marianne, Scott & Luke ~ Such a beautiful tribute for such a beautiful girl. Hilary's grace belied her years and serves as an inspiration for us all to spread the her "ripple effect of compassion and love" to all who surround us. It is a loss for all that she left this world too early. But, I like to think of her driving her beloved Jeep on the beaches of heaven... with a never ending sunset and her favorite music playing for all to hear... with everyone admiring her infectious, joyful smile. All our love and compassion, Betsy, James, Audrey & Ian Pratt
