Condolences to the Family of John “Jack” Carey

2021

Nelma, so sorry we did not know about Jack. There is not enough space to share the great times we all had together on the Cape. Life goes on but memories last forever.

Dear Nelma, Janel, Susan, and family, I will treasure the wonderful memories I have of spending time with your family down the Cape as a little girl and then these past few summers with Dick and the kids. I'm thankful our families were able to spend time together this last year. I'll always remember Uncle Jack as sweet and easy-going with a loving and generous heart.

Although Jack was my first cousin, we grew up together as children in beautiful South Boston and were like brothers throughout the years up to the present with the bonds growing stronger each year that swiftly went buy with tragedies and happy times shared together offering advice and support to each other. We will never forget him and will always cherish the memories.

Although Jack was my godfather, I always considered him my uncle. We shared many memories together over the years and always had a fun time together full of stories and laughs. We were both alumni of Stonehill college, and he was a primary reason I chose to further my education there vs other college options. I’ll never forget the time “Sergeant Jack” of the Boston vice squad took me out on a midnight patrol as part of an official thesis I was writing. What an adventurous night and interesting experience. We always laughed reminiscing about that night and all the wackos we encountered. He was a great police officer. He always went out of his way to help me out and introduce me to. Jack knew everyone. I truly miss my Uncle Jack and wish him a peaceful afterlife. Love you Jack!
