Condolences to the Family of Christina L. Temple

2018

I learned today via the tardy arrival of the February 15th edition of The hull Times that Christina Temple had passed away. She was one of my favorite people. I met her 18 years ago during our Hull High reunion. I went into Anasto's for breakfast and left with a new friendship. It was slow that morning and we got to chatting. She asked where I was from, I filled her in on my gypsy life and that I currently lived in El Paso. That got her interest; it turned out that Christine had lived in El Paso in the 1950s, and had enjoyed living there until tragedy struck. She was engaged to a G.I. stationed at Fort Bliss, but one night her young man was brutally murdered. The circumstances of that crime were somewhat mysterious and the perpetrators were never caught. That terrible incident prompted Christine to leave El Paso and travel to the Northeast, which turned out to be a boon for Hull, and the patrons of Anastos. Since our first meeting, every time I returned to Hull I made sure to visit Anasto's, primarily to visit with Christine -- not that the food was bad, in fact it was some of the best in the area thanks to Christine, but there was something about how friendly and funny she was that made her, at least for me, the star attraction there. Over the intervening years we exchanged many Christmas greetings. I am deeply saddened at her passing and wish to express my condolences to her family. I shall miss her.

It's been years but I remember Chris with much fondness. From the years of going to Anastos after school everyday, to taking my kids there for a toasted blueberry muffin, to having her daughter Joanie babysit for us many a night. Kelly and Jimmy remember!!She is loved and will be missed.
