Condolences to the Family of Robert S. Mirabito

2018

Thank you Bob for your dedicated service as a Commissioner of the former Massachusetts Aeronautics Commission. Your passion and support was greatly appreciated. Our thoughts and prayers will be with your family during this difficult time. High Flight Poem Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth, And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I’ve climbed and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds — and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there I’ve chased the shouting wind along and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long delirious burning blue I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace, Where never lark, or even eagle, flew; And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

I deeply regret that I shall not be able to participate in the military honors so richly deserved for Bob. We shared many memorable moments in the Ancients on several Fall Tours of duty. Be assured of my thoughts and prayers. COL Ernest C. Caggiano, PC Delray Beach, FL

Thank you Bob...for being my EVERYTHING...you brought such happiness and meaning to my life. You believed in me, elevated my spirits when others tried to do otherwise, taught me self confidence and self reliance, showed me how to see the best in others and to always offer help; whenever possible. You showed me what love feels like on so many levels and how we should all live with such a feeling of gratitude. Growing up without a Father, you were the next best thing. You came into my life at an important time and place. You filled that void perfectly, as if my own Dad was guiding you. You taught me how to be a man...to be strong, to stand up for yourself...yet without being afraid to be sensitive and vulnerable. You led by example; giving new meaning to the word integrity. You always tried to connect with everyone that you came in contact with. You made everyone feel so special, valued and appreciated. I could go on forever, but mere words could never even begin to describe nor give justice to the incredible person that you were. What a blessing and a privilege it was to have the honor of holding your hand, kissing you and telling you what you meant to me, in those final moments....and now I have to find a way to live the rest of my life without you...it'll be my hardest task. It's so true that someone like you literally comes along once in a lifetime...I'm just so glad that it was during MY lifetime...I'll love you forever!
