Jeanie and I met Bob and Karen, and their sons, Stephen and Neal, in Alexandria, Egypt, where we were near neighbors in the Roushdy section of the city in 1980-81. After we were all back in the States, Bob, for a while anyway, was operating a commercial metal roofing business in Florida. Jeanie and I live in Jacksonville Beach, and when Bob was working in our part of the state, he would stay with us. We kept a room made up for him, gave him a key to our house, and were always happy when his truck turned up in our driveway. He called himself our “phantom boarder,” and we still remember the pleasure his company brought us. Bob had life enough in him for two men, not one. He was a large spirit, which makes us mourn his passing all the more. Our hearts go out to Karen and the whole Keohane family.
