Not only a good friend but my brother Marine. Ed had resolve, perseverance and a kindness that few can claim. Take your place my friend in Valhalla with our fellow Marines. Until we meet again, Semper Fi.

A Marine's Marine and one of the best friends a person could have. You fought the good fight and now it's time for you to take your pack off and rest. Hopefully, when we next meet, you will be guarding the Pearly Gates, and let me in! Semper Fi! My friend!

Col. Ed Murphy is one of the toughest, honorable, compassionate, God Fearing Marines I have ever known. He battled Americas enemies, he battled heart disease and battled cancer fearlessly and relentlessly. He treated everyone he came in contact with respectfully. He was a great source of encouragement during my wife's terminal illness, even though fighting his own battle. We will all miss this friend. He personified Semper Fidelis. Peace to his memory

Ed was a friend of mine for over 35 years. What brought us together was the Marine Corps and it is the USMC that has kept us close for all these years. To me, Ed was a truly unique individual, a dedicated individual to every element of his life. This was not only as a Marine, but it carried over into his personal life. His physical fitness standards, his running of the Boston Marathon on several occasions. He would go out of his way to do anything for his friends and colleagues. He always believed in himself and his ability to overcome any obstacles that he faced. The last time I spoke with him, which was around the holidays there was no question in his mind that he would conquer his challenges, and you couldn't help but believe that he would. Well my friend, you gave it your all, but it finally beat you. I only wish there was more I could have done to help you. Semper Fi Brother. Take the objective, set the perimeter and put out an observation post, and I see you on the other side. Jeff
