Condolences to the Family of William Clifford

2015

I am sorry to hear about Bill passing away ~ I have lived as his neighbor at Seaview Towers since 1987, and parked 2 spots away from his turquoise car all these years. I enjoyed many chats with him... mostly politics. My son Dave spent one summer at the same YMCA summer camp as his gransdon, who was visiting. He was a noble man. Bill touched many peoples lives, more than he knew, I'm sure. He was a principled man, unabashed and never intimidated by others who didn't share his views of doing the 'right thing' for the working man. We must be eternally grateful for Bill's vision and devotion to his lifelong work of improving the lives of others. Your family must be proud.

Bill was a very special person to us personally and, of course, to the ATDA and the labor movement as a whole. We will always remember his kindnesses to us, his wit, and the breadth of his knowledge that went well beyond his role as a union officer. We extend our condolences to his immediate family and to his broad circle of friends to whom he meant so much. Mike and Val Wolly

My deep sympathy to Bill's family. Bill was my mentor for over 40 years on the railroad. He gave of himself to his work and in later years to the American Train Dispatchers Association as union General Chairman, Vice President and President of that organization. There were times when our union treasury was low on funds and Bill would used his own vacation time for travel to other railroad offices for the benefit of fellow employees. His dedication and unselfishness toward others was his nature. On another note, it was a delight to engage him in political and current events discussions even though we differed as much as we agreed. Usually, I got my hat handed to me for crossing swords with him. It was my good fortune to have known the man. Kindest regards, Larry Bean
