Condolences to the Family of Jack Garrity

2015

Jack coached me in High School and I never had a coach that taught me so much. Jack had the talent of bringing the best out in players and was something I still remember 30 years later. He was a great person who also remembered athletes who had the pleasure of meeting him. All coaches should be like Jack Garrity this makes us all give back to sports.

My prayers go out to the family at this difficult time. Our loving God has promised to do away with sickness, suffering, and death here on the earth in the near future. (Psalms 37:9-11; Isaiah 33:24; John 5:28, 29; Acts 24:15; Revelation 21:3-5) God understands what you are feeling and promises to be "close to the brokenhearted" and "saves those crushed in spirit". (Psalms 34:18) Please know that your family will be in my prayers!

I was saddened to learn of Jack's passing. His records of achievement as a high school, college and Olympic hockey player are truly remarkable. Equally impressive is the positive influence and impact he had, and will continue to have, on hundreds of former students as a successful multi-sport coach and teacher. It was a blessing indeed to have been one member of his first hockey team (1953/54) at Archbishop Williams High School. Condolences to all of Jack's family.

Rest in Peace to a true gentleman. One of the most innovative teachers I ever had at Quincy High. He spent most of the class time engaging us in the stories from the day's headlines and making us think about how they related to U.S. and World History.
