I grew up in the Pemberton section of Hull as a summer resident on a block filled with cousins about the same age as myself. We all got to know Derick from hanging up at the Village playground playing basketball and baseball. Derick was a lot of fun to be around. Always in a good mood and always smiling and cracking jokes. He was a good friend. I was saddened to hear that he passed away. To his friends and family: I am very sorry for your loss.

I am sorry to hear about Derick's passing. He truly was someone who, once you met him, you would never forget him. As high school friends, Derick and I shared a lot of laughs and fun times. Time and adulthood separates most of us, during life, but I was fortunate enough to be able to reconnect with Derick a couple years back and we were laughing and joking and sharing our life experiences as if we never missed a beat. You will be missed, Derick. Keep them all laughing up there.

I am so sorry for your loss. Derick was my friend since childhood, young boys growing up in the Village. I cherish the memories of playing hockey and street hockey with Billy and Derick on chilly winter mornings and playing softball on the "dust bowl" during those "dog days" of summer. His his big heart and his endearing sense of humor will live on with all of us. My warmest condolences, thoughts and prayers are with you. Dennis Peacock
