Condolences to the Family of John A. Marchetti

2015

Ruthie, Ruth Ann & Nancy, I was deeply saddened to learn of Johnny's illness and his passing. Growing up he was a neighbor, friend and ultimately my boss when he gave me my first real job as a dishwasher (prior to my this I was able to earn money cutting his lawn). He was kind enough on occasion to spend a portion of his one day off on Monday to take me with him into Boston to pick up meat and produce, and on his boat. I was amazed then (and still today) at his work ethic, his passion, and his commitment to family. I have not, in my now 25 years working, have encountered anyone who works as hard as he did. Depsite his responsibilities at the restaurant, he still had the time to teach and explain what he was doing, and tell some jokes along the way. He was a great cook, but an even better person - I will miss both. I am thankful for the time I had with him, and forever grateful for knowing him. You will be in my thoughts during this diffuclt time. God Bless. Pat Haraden

John was a true gentleman, and a great guy to know. He was always willing to share his knowledge of Hull, and everyone who was anyone ate at Marchetti's. Some of my fondest memories are of the rich and flavorful smells of his Italian cooking filling the neighborhood. He will be greatly missed.
