“I love being able to care for someone’s loved one and seeing the gratitude the surviving family members express without even knowing I had anything to do with it. Giving families a really special moment and not wanting or expecting anything in return makes coming to work every day worth it.”
Tim O’Brien is in charge of the maintenance and landscaping for the three McDonald Keohane Funeral Home facilities in Weymouth. His main responsibilities include keeping the facilities maintained, cleaned and manicured. He cares for the lawn and makes sure the striping is perfect while tending to the various shrubs, flowers and plants around the properties. Tim is also a part of our care team in Weymouth, helping to dress loved ones and place them in caskets for visiting hours and funerals. Making DVD slideshows, transfers, working at funerals and greeting during wakes when needed rounds out his responsibilities.
Tim came aboard the Keohane team by working funerals and greeting during visiting hours while he was a student of mechanical engineering at Umass Dartmouth. He quickly fell in love with the funeral service industry and decided to take a full time role. After a few years as a funeral directors apprentice, he was offered the position as facilities manager and accepted the opportunity.
Outside of work, Tim enjoys spending time with his girlfriend Sharon and Labrador Retriever Bruschi. He also enjoys building furniture, camping, tinkering with machines and contraptions, reading biographies, and spending time by the water. He shoots in a traveling pool league around the South Shore and loves to grill and watch the Patriots football games on the weekends. Tim is a member of the Weymouth Elks.
