Wallace, William P., Jr. “Billy” of Weymouth, formerly of South Boston, passed away on April 19, 2024. He was 69.

Born in 1955 in Boston, he was the son of the late William and Julia (Kerrigan) Wallace.

Billy was a man whose life was characterized by hard work, as evidenced by his commitment to working two jobs for over 30 years, ensuring that his family always had what they needed and more. He was most proud of his career as a Mail Handler at the South Station US Post Office.

Billy’s passion for Boston sports was only rivaled by his love for his family. He shared countless Red Sox games with his sons, instilling in them not just a love for the sport but the importance of togetherness. His enthusiasm didn’t stop at the stands; he was a familiar face at the local little league fields, cheering on and coaching the teams with a spirit that was both infectious and inspiring.

Billy’s happiest moments were often found in the simplicity of New Hampshire lake trips, where he could be seen sharing stories and making memories that his family will treasure forever. His grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye, will remember him as the grandparent who was always present, always cheering them on, and always ready to go above and beyond to make their lives special.

To say that Billy stood by his family is an understatement; he was their rock, their safe harbor in any storm. His loyalty was unwavering, his support was steadfast, and his ability to love was limitless. Billy was the epitome of selflessness, often putting the needs of others before his own without a second thought. His kindness touched the lives of everyone he met, leaving a mark that will never fade.

William P. Wallace Jr. was truly irreplaceable. His passionate approach to life, his selfless nature, and his kind soul made him a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew him. As we say goodbye to Billy, we also celebrate the extraordinary life he led and the profound impact he had on those fortunate enough to have known him. His memory will live on, not just in stories or in moments of nostalgia, but in the everyday acts of kindness that he taught us all to value.

Predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Jayne (Moore) Wallace. Survived by his devoted sons, Patrick R. Wallace and his longtime girlfriend Robyn Phillips and William P. Wallace III, both of Weymouth. Pop-Pop to Nolan, Patrick, and Juliana. Brother to the late Kevin Wallace.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday in St. Brigid’s  in South Boston at 10 AM.
