Ronald S. Smith, Sr.

Ronald S. Smith, Sr. of Hingham and Cape Coral, FL, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side July 16, 2022.

Beloved husband of 51 years to the late Dorothy A. (Finneran) Smith, he was the loving father of Ron Smith and his wife Kerry of Weymouth, Melissa Smith and her husband Nathan Rasmussen of Hingham, Tracy Smith of Florida and Tara Dusthimer and her husband Michael of North Carolina; cherished Grampy of Maggie, Ronnie, Patrick, Mckenna, Georgia, Jillian, Emma, Abby, and Charlie. Caring brother to Bobby Smith, Bonnie Smith and the late Jean Hunt; son of the late Norman and Mildred Smith.

Ron was a lifelong resident of Hingham and grew up in Crow Point.  After graduating Hingham High School in 1961, Ron served in the United States Navy.  When he returned home, he attended and graduated from Bentley College and in 1971 he founded American Mobile Homes with his business partner, Billy Garrity.  Ron went on to own and operate R.D. Corporation with his wife Dorothy.  Ron’s family was the center of his universe and he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and brother.  Ron hosted many July 4th cookouts and always looked forward to family visits while he was in Florida.  Ron will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, July 21 4-8 PM at Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street, Hingham.  A celebration of life service will be held in the funeral home at 10 AM on Friday.  Burial in High Street Cemetery in Hingham.  In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Ronald may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
