Veteran

Peter D. Lehane

Peter David Lehane of Braintree, formerly of Hingham, aged 77, died peacefully April 26, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Raised in Jamaica Plain, the third of six children born to Gertrude (Nolan) and Joseph Lehane.  Peter attended Catholic Memorial High School after which he enlisted in the US Airforce and served in the Vietnam war as a morse code operator.  After returning, he met the love of his life Anne at Kilgarriff’s Café in Jamaica Plain. Shortly thereafter, Peter joined the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Local Union 33 which he remained a proud member until his death. During his years as a union carpenter, he worked on many of the Boston cityscape buildings, such as the Hancock Tower, the convention center, the old State House, and the old Sears building. Peter never hesitated to use his love of carpentry to help family and friends. He also served as a Hingham Fire Fighter, however his most important role in life was as a family man. He was an outstanding husband, father and grandfather. A humble man who led his family with quiet strength and humor. Throughout his life, he easily made many friends who became like family because of  his kind, generous, happy nature.  Peter will be missed by everyone who was blessed to know him.

He is the beloved husband of almost 54 years to Anne (Norris) Lehane. Loving father of John Norris and his wife Charlene of Weymouth; Nicole Gray and her husband Christopher of Bridgewater; Renee Moon and her husband Michael of Weymouth; and Peter Lehane and his wife Stacy of Weymouth. Brother of Mary Lehane of Weymouth, Sheila Allendorf of Walpole, Helen Hillier of Woburn, Richard Lehane of Weymouth, and the late Joseph Lehane. Proud “Papa” of Brittany, Owen, Michael, Taylor, Kathleen, and Margaret “Maggie”. Also survived by brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday 5/1/24 from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Funeral Mass to be held on Thursday 5/2/24 at 10:30AM in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth. Celebration of Life following Funeral Mass at a location to be determined.
