Neil F. McBride

McBride, Neil F. 80, of Weymouth, and formerly of Quincy, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday April 23, 2018.

Born in Boston, he was a son of the late Thomas and Rose (Doherty) McBride. He was the beloved husband of 56 years of Anne Marie (Daly) McBride.  Devoted father of Joanne McBride of Weymouth, Patti Jones of Melrose, Kathy Corrigan and her husband John of Stoneham, Donna Morris and her husband Rob of Weymouth, and Noreen Keenan and her husband Steve of Weymouth.  Brother of Robert McBride and his wife Eleanor of Quincy, Richard McBride and his wife Rosemary of Hingham, Anne Hilton of Weymouth, and the late Thomas McBride and his surviving wife Jean of Braintree.  Loving grandfather of Kyle and Shannon Jones, John and Neil Corrigan, and the late Mackenzie Rose Corrigan, Brendan and Abby Morris, Matthew and Megan Keenan.  Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, in-laws, and friends that he considered family.

Mr. McBride was raised in Dorchester, and was a 1956 graduate of Cathedral High.  He went on to earn his Associate’s Degree from Newbury College.  He served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Tarawa.  Neil worked for over 35 years as a Lineman for New England Telephone Co. and its subsidiaries and retired at the early age of 55.  He was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council # 5027, of So. Weymouth, a member of the McKeon Post in Dorchester, and Braintree Municipal Golf Course.  Neil enjoyed spending winters in Sarasota FL, where he was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and The Bobby Jones Men’s Golf Association.  Neil also treasured his time vacationing at Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire with his family.  He spent many enjoyable hours golfing with his brothers, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and routing for Boston sports teams.  He enjoyed gardening, and supported the Silver Foxes in the Alzheimer’s walk with his family.  Above all, Neil’s greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 11:30 AM on Monday April 30.
