Keohane Funeral Home

Shaughnessy, Michael J. of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester, originally from County Galway, Ireland, died February 19, 2017.

The beloved husband of 54 years to the late Catherine P. Shaughnessy. Loving father of Bryan Shaughnessy and his wife Tricia of Braintree, Kevin Shaughnessy and his wife Christine of Norwood and Michael G. Shaughnessy of Weymouth. Cherished grandfather to Meaghan, Caitlan, Brendan, Matthew and Daniel Shaughnessy. 

Michael came over from Ireland in 1956, he spend nearly 30 years in Dorchester before moving to Quincy in 1986. He was a hardworking man who loved his family. He enjoyed walking Castle Island on Sundays. He worked as a painter and for the Archdiocese of Boston. He was a devout Catholic and his faith was very important to him. Michael was always there to help his sons with anything they needed and always put others before himself. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.   

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 5-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 11:30 AM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Boston. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Michael may be made to Boston Catholic Television, P.O. Box 9196, Watertown, MA 02471.
