Michael E. Dooner

Michael E. Dooner of South Weymouth, the loving husband to his pre-deceased wife Doris Elizabeth, and adoring father of Kimberly Chignon, died in Hospice Care on March 24, 2024. Kimberly remained an exceptional daughter throughout his life with kindness and loving care .
Michael was the seventh child of Michael J.  Dooner and Margaret Mary Dooner.  He had been a devoted son to his widowed mother.  He was pre-deceased by his siblings : Ann P. Snow, Joseph M.  Dooner, Dorothy Mae Dooner, Paul F.  Dooner, Peggy T. Keyes, C. Rose Charland, and Regina S. Senkel. His remaining sibling is his loving sister Helen C.  Dooner. He is greatly loved and remembered by many nieces and nephews.
As a young man, Mike proudly served in the US Navy receiving meritorious awards, and accolades for distinction and bravery. Mike was a graduate of Quincy College and Northeastern University.  He excelled in business and public works. His diverse interests and talents included hunting, dog training, prize-winning wood sculpture, and floriculture among others.
After retirement, Mike utilized his depth of horticultural skills as a member of the Weymouth Club, converting it to an abundant display of colorful flowers, and lush thriving plants. Together as a couple, he and Doris were happy, vibrant, and active. They enjoyed music and dancing and managing Dooner’s. Doggy Day Care.
Michael will be laid to rest alongside his wife, parents,siblings, and nephew.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday 4/2/24 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Burial in New Calvary Cemetery, Boston. Donations in memory of Michael may be made to MSPCA, 350 S. Huntington Ave., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
