Marjorie F. Greene

Marjorie F. (Rogers) Greene, 81, of Quincy, loving mother, deeply sensitive woman of compassion, intelligence, and beauty, died peacefully early Sunday morning, March 8.

Marjorie was born in Boston in 1933 to devoted parents Carmelita and Edward Rogers and was a sister to Edward, Constance, and William. She graduated from the State Teacher’s College at Boston in 1955 with a degree in education and went on to become a creative and passionate kindergarten teacher in the Quincy Public School system who was remembered with affection by her students and their parents for her unique talent for fostering an enthusiasm for reading. She also served as the education coordinator of CCD at St. Ann Parish, where she was an active parishioner. She left teaching to devote herself to the education of her children and to embrace family life. Her love for and appreciation of music led to her membership in the Quincy Choral Society and the Eastern Nazarene College Choral. She continued her education with studies in classical music and writing and also traveled across the US and abroad embracing life filled with an appreciation for conversation, laughter, music, culture, and gardening, and above all the everyday experience of the people she encountered and those close to her. She had a special love for the ocean and Cape Cod, which she passed on to her four children and five grandchildren. To them, she shared her abundant and renewed joy in her last years. She strove to understand herself and to enrich relationships until the end with grace, kindness, and above all empathy. Her strength, independence, and spirit were a great gift to all.

Marjorie is survived by her four beloved children: Mary and her husband Jeff Majors; Carol and her partner Craig Kalpakjian; Victor and his wife Kim (Corcoran), and their three children Victor, Joseph, and Kathryn; and Donald and his wife Ashley (Fawcett) and their children, Aidan and Erin; she is also survived by their father, Victor Greene, of Quincy. She will be missed by her many adored nieces and nephews and her loving friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, from 4 to 8 pm at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy. A celebration of life service will be held at 9:15 AM on Saturday, March 14, at the funeral home, and a funeral mass will follow at 10 AM at Saint Ann Parish in Wollaston, followed by a burial in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Roslindale.
