Marion T. (Vaillancourt) Sherman, 95, of Hingham, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on March 14, 2024.

The beloved wife of the late George E. Sherman and loving mother of Susan Hiltz and her late husband Bob “Hiltzy” of Hingham, Donna Dockendorff and her husband Rick of Pembroke, Nancy Beale and her husband, Bill, of Plymouth, Janet and her husband, Ed of Venice, FL and Carol Lincoln of Hingham and her former spouse, Philip. Devoted daughter of the late Raymond and Mildred (Hart) Vaillancourt. Sister of Jeanne Fontaine of AZ, Lila Stiffler of TX and Bob Vaillancourt of NC and her late brothers Raymond, Donald and Bill. Marion is survived by 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and predeceased by her grandson, Steven Newton. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, foster child, Kelley Davis and many longtime friends.

Marion was born in Northampton, MA and grew up in western MA before moving to Weymouth and graduating from Weymouth High School. She and her husband George owned and operated Sherman Bros. Heating Company for over 50 years and she later worked as a real estate agent. Marion and George moved to Hingham in 1961 to raise

their family. She loved spending summers at her beach house in Scituate where she enjoyed many happy, fun filled years. Marion took great pride in continuing her education and took courses in business, painting and writing. Marion loved to shop and she had impeccable fashion sense. She enjoyed traveling often with friends and family. Marion was loving, kind and generous. She was a strong, compassionate, independent woman who always stood up for what she

believed in. To Marion, her family was her life and her biggest joy was spending time with them. She touched so many lives. Marion was always there when you needed her and had an open, loving heart for everyone. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to join her family for a Celebration of Life on June 8, 2024, at 10 AM at the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street, Hingham. Burial in Village Cemetery, 339 Washington St., Weymouth, MA 02188. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marion’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, a charity that was near and dear to her heart.
