Kevin Patrick Brennan

Our world was forever changed on August 2, 1994 when our son, Kevin Patrick was born and entered our lives.

Kevin had a heart that encompassed the world.  One of his greatest desires was to travel and experience all the worlds different places and people.  He was a great observer of life and individuals. Before long, he was researching and organizing numerous trips to places as far Hawaii, Canada and Ireland and as close as Disney World and Niagara Falls. He loved visiting his Aunts, Uncles, and cousins in such places as :Tappan and Goshen, NY, Northern Virginia, Sarasota, FL, Southampton, NY, Richmond, VA, and of course New City, NY ,the  Carroll family homestead, as well as Washington, D.C. and Maryland home of the Brennan’s.

He always felt he was the “luckiest” of grandchildren since he lived so close to his maternal grandparents in Florida as he was growing up.  He was their “Charlie Brown”—he loved being in their company and delighted in regaling Nanny and Poppy with his antics! Once he interviewed Poppy about WWII and they developed a strong bond. Poppy shared stories with him that he never told anyone. Nanny would cook his favorite dinners including her famous potted steak followed by tea and cookies from her special blue tin. He helped them with chores, as they aged. He was also deeply loved by his paternal Washingtonian grandparents who spoiled him with grandmas Apple pie whenever he visited. Often many of the cousins visited together with Kevin at the Brennan household, all playing games in a loving environment.  As he grew and matured his interests gravitated to physical fitness. He enjoyed going to the gym.   Although he purported to be a Dallas Cowboys fan, those who knew him, always knew that the Washington Redskins were first in his heart! Kevin also loved the beach. As a strong swimmer he was a member of The Space Coast Swim Team excelling in the difficult butterfly stroke and while a student at Melbourne High School (Class of 2013) he ran cross country. He ran many 5K races as an adult and could often be seen on his daily workout running along the seashore in the morning or at sunset. The sound of the waves and the sand beneath his feet brought him great joy. Always pushing himself physically forward he completed his first half marathon in 2023.

Kevin had a strong work ethic. In his early years, he helped around the house. Under his mother’s guidance and inspiration, he finished and even painted an outside pool deck! He was a great help to his parents. Kevin was motivated to work and took great pride in his jobs outside the house when he became older. He worked successfully in stores and retail, blue chip communications companies, and in logistics and shipping.  During the Covid lockdown he enrolled and received a post-graduate certificate from Rutgers University in Supply Chain Management and Logistics.

Young Kevin enjoyed cartoon artistry but as he grew his real passion was writing. He maintained numerous notebooks and would often journal or write short stories.  His insatiable curiosity about people, the world and life provided much of the basis for his stories.  He had a way with words, a poetic grace that allowed him to express his thoughts and emotions with profound beauty and depth. The lucky people that he considered friends often commented on his ability to speak to them with an incredibly insightful candidness. He also had a knack for humor and would entertain with his recital of movie clips or imitations of people that made everyone laugh and smile. His version of Rodney Dangerfield and “I get no respect” and his imitation of Hank Hill from King of the Hill, “I heard ya Peggy”, was totally entertaining. These talents served him well and were put to good use as a student at East Carolina University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Social Sciences in 2018. While in college, he developed relationships with professors. He delighted in sharing stories, in particular about Woodstock, with his Statistics professor who attended the concert and Kevin convinced him that he most likely knew his Aunt who also attended. Generously, Kevin gifted to each of them a book on “Life in the 60’s “cherished to this day.  During his college days, Kevin was a member of the Newman Club, a Catholic social group. He enjoyed Wednesday night Mass followed by meetings devoted to Christian Action and especially the pizza afterwards!

Kevin loved deeply and unconditionally, forming lifelong bonds that were both sacred and eternal.  His love for his family and his deep faith in God was a beautiful tapestry of cherished moments, woven with the threads of joy, laughter, and an unbreakable bond that transcended time. He was a loving son and cousin and a loyal friend–he has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he loved.

In this moment of profound loss, we find solace in the beautiful moments we shared, the laughter, the tears, and the countless memories that will forever be etched in our hearts.  Kevin’s life will be celebrated by his family privately in January as his soul journeys back home to his Eternal Father.

To our beloved son Kevin, you will forever be in our hearts, a cherished memory, a beautiful dream, and a love that knows no end.  “…And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.”

He is survived by his parents, Sheila and Philip Brennan and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
