Joseph P. Nicholson

Nicholson, Joseph P. of Weymouth, died Monday, June 20, 2022 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.  He was 80.

Born in Boston on June 26, 1941, he was the son of the late Joseph and Eleanor (Solomini) Nicholson.  Joseph attended local schools and at the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy.  Although he only served during peacetime, Joseph was very proud to serve his country.  He married his sweetheart Brenda and had three beautiful children, making their house a home.  Family and work were the most important things to Joseph.  He loved to travel and took trips to Italy, Alaska and many Caribbean Islands, but his annual trip to Aruba was held closest to his heart.  He also loved playing the slots at the local casinos.  Joseph was an extremely hard working man.  He started his working career at the IUEC Local 4 of Boston as an elevator mechanic for 37 years and continued working until the end as a State Elevator Inspector.  He was a man that was well loved and well respected.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

Joseph was the loving husband to Brenda J. Nicholson (Mazza) of Weymouth.  He was the caring father of Jodi Mountcastle and her husband John of Hanson, David Nicholson and his wife Christine of E. Bridgewater, and Holli Nicholson of Fall River.  Joseph was the devote grandfather of Devin Lydon of Somerville, Kyle  Lydon of Fall River, Owen and Zoe Lydon of Weymouth, Sydni, Griffin and Savanna Mountcastle of Hanson.  He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday, June 30th from 3-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).  Burial will be private.
