Doherty, Jean L. of Quincy, died October 3, 2017.

Jean worked for Altra Industrial Motion Parent Company of Boston Gear for 57 years, before retiring in 2014. She was a member of the Boston Gear Retiree Committee and a past bowler with the Boston Gear women’s league. She adored animals, especially dogs and the Love of her Life, her boxer McGraw. Jean was a big country music fan and traveled to many concerts to see her favorite artists. She also enjoyed Women’s College Basketball, Women’s Softball and Golf and attending North Quincy High men and women’s basketball.    She was known for her Christmas card letters, which would be sent out each year telling of the year’s events in her life. Jean was a firecracker, who was strong willed and always independent. She was outgoing and a friend to all, and will be greatly missed.

Daughter of the late Gertrude (Evans) Doherty. Special friend of Marilyn and Patrick Croall of Quincy. Also survived by her beloved dog McGraw.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 3-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jean may be made to MSPCA, Attn: Donation, 350 S. Huntington Ave., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
