James J. Bickford Sr.

James J. Bickford of Weymouth, passed away with family by his side on October 8, 2018. Jim was born on January 10, 1960 in Boston to the late Mary J. and Charles R. Bickford. 

Beloved husband of 35 years to Maureen (Little) Bickford of Weymouth. Loving and proud father to James J. Bickford Jr. and Theresa of Scituate, Jennifer T. McClelland and Andrew of Norwell and Kevin C. Bickford of Canton. Dear brother to Robert G. Bickford and Pam of Foxboro, Thomas P. Bickford and Wendy of Hanover and the late John C. Bickford and brother in law of Elizabeth Bickford of Wrentham. Loving and fun Grampy and “best friend” to Elise, James, Jack and Charlotte.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, the Bentley/Cape Cod Open crew, and loving neighbors.

Formerly of Readville, he was a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School and Bentley College.  He was the proud owner of Westminster Dodge, making an impact in the automotive industry over 30 years.  An avid sports fan, he also enjoyed spending time on the golf course and standing on the sidelines both cheering and coaching his children’s teams. Jim’s contagious smile fueled his love for entertaining family and friends, time spent by the pool, the islands, Cape Cod and the many other memorable family vacations.  Jim most treasured his time spent with his children and grandchildren whom he loved beyond words.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

The family would like to thank the dedicated and very caring doctors and nurses of Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham & Women’s Hospital for the incredible care provided to Jim.  The family appreciates all the prayer, concerns and support extended to us during this time.
