Jacqueline R. Maier

Maier, Jacqueline R. (Sommers) of Quincy, died July 20, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, after a sudden illness.

Jacqueline’s life was centered around her loving family.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling with her sisters, relaxing by the pool, and her trips to Maine.  Above all else, her favorite day of the year was July 4th, when the family came together in an annual ritual of celebrating family and freedom.  She was the secretary for many years at Quincy Teen Mother’s, a program administered by Quincy Public School.  Jacqueline was also a spousal member at the Quincy Elks.  She will be remembered as a generous, outgoing, kind and wonderful woman. 

Beloved wife of the late George W. Maier, III.  Loving mother of George W. “Butch” Maier, IV and his wife Paula, Kathy Hughes and her husband Matt, and John “Jack” Maier and his wife Jennifer; all of Quincy.  Loving daughter of the late Clifton Sommers and Rita (Carey) Sommers.  Sister of Jean Barnes of Quincy, Paul Sommers of Rockland, Kathleen Creedon of Quincy, David Sommers of Quincy, and Nancy Tierney of Quincy.  Cherished “Nana” to Jacki, Ryan, Nick, Billy, Danny, and Adam.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Dempsey. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM.  Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
