George J. Higgins III

George J. Higgins III of Abington, passed away June 16, 2017.

Born in Boston to the late George and Demetria Higgins, he was a graduate of Weymouth High School. George was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran, stationed at Tan Son Nhut Air Base during the Vietnam war. He enjoyed reading, traveling – especially to England, and watching Jeopardy. George was also a history buff, and loved visiting many World War II sites during a recent European tour. The 4th generation of Higgins’ to work for the railroad, he retired from Amtrak after more than 40 years.

Beloved husband of 46 years to Jacquelyn A. (Starr) Higgins and loving father of Jillian Starr Higgins both of Abington. Dear brother of Timothy Higgins and his wife Linda of Hanson and the late Patricia Farmer. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 9-11 AM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 AM in McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main St., Weymouth. Burial in Woodside Cemetery, Cohasset.
