Elizabeth M. McMahon

Elizabeth M. McMahon of Quincy, Massachusetts, passed away on April 10, 2024, at the age of 61. Liz was the beloved and adored wife of 19 years to Mark Moriarty, also of Quincy. She was the cherished daughter of the late Eugene and Nuala (nee Nangle) McMahon. Liz is survived by her dear sister, Siobhan McMahon of Brighton, as well as her loving step-children: Sean Moriarty of Guilford, Connecticut, Cathryn Moriarty of Franklin, New Hampshire, and Charles Moriarty of Guilford, Connecticut. She is also survived by many beloved cousins and dear friends.

Born and raised in Brighton, Liz attended Mount St. Joseph Academy and went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University and her Master’s degree from Boston University. She was recognized throughout her impressive career as an exceptional Software Engineer, working for many years at Digital Equipment Corporation both locally and abroad, as well as at MIT and, most recently, with National Grid.

Liz took great pride in her Irish heritage and traveled frequently to visit her family in Leitrim, Ireland. She was an active participant in the vibrant Irish cultural community in Boston. Liz had a special love for cats, which was evident in her frequent Facebook posts celebrating her beloved pets.

Liz was known by all as a warm, engaging, and genuinely kind-hearted person. She had a big, open heart and a wonderful sense of humor that brightened the lives of everyone around her. Liz cherished the time she spent catching up with her family and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with Liz’s family on Sunday, April 28th, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street in Quincy. A funeral service will follow at 1 PM in the same location. It was Liz’s request to be buried with her late parents in Ireland.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Quincy Animal Shelter, 440 R East Squantum Street, Quincy, MA 02171, in Liz’s memory.

Liz will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
