Mr. Daniel M. Cheney, of Braintree, died June 29, 2016.

Dan worked for 35 years as a supervisor for the MBTA until his retirement in October, 1986. He always enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, woodworking, and will be dearly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

Beloved husband of the late Anne P. (Welch) Cheney. Loving father of Anne Patrick and her late husband, Robert, of Braintree, Virginia Woodbury and Marie Cheney both of Holbrook, Karen Bolger and her husband, Gregory, of Hanover, Daniel Cheney, Jr and his wife, Kimberly, of Abington, and Michael Cheney of Newport, R.I. Brother of Thomas Cheney and his wife, Barbara, of Quincy, Marie Lawlor of Westwood, and the late Stephen, Joseph, Leo, and Paul Cheney. Brother in law of Evelyn Cheney of Braintree and Patricia Cheney of Brockton, Grandfather of Kristen, Lindsey, Doreen, Nicholas, Brittany, Christopher, Rachel, Kelsea, Sean, and Morgan Great grandfather of Alex and Madison. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Hancock Park in Quincy, John Scott Nursing Home and the South Shore Visiting Nurses Association.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 10 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 11AM. Burial will follow in Braintree Cemetery.
