Cynthia “Cindy” Rea Cotter

Cynthia “Cindy” Rea Cotter, 81, of Hingham, MA, died peacefully on March 13th at the Pat Roche Hospice Home with her daughter Shelley by her side.

Cindy was born in Livermore Falls, Maine on August 26, 1942 to the late Angelo and Domenica (Ventrella) Rea. She graduated from Saint Joseph High School in Manchester, NH and went on to receive her degree as an RN at the Sacred Heart Nursing School in Manchester. Cindy moved to Boston shortly after and excelled at her career in nursing and caring for others. She ended her career as the Director of Nursing at Norwell Knoll Rehabilitation and Nursing Center where she took great pride in ensuring patients got the best care possible.

Cindy loved to travel, walk, cook, and spend time with family and friends. She had a keen eye for decorating homes and loved to shop and plan. In the past she also loved to ski and garden and was amazing at everything she did. Cindy traveled to many places over the years and always made a point to have at least one big vacation a year. Whether it was a house in Cape Cod, a lake house in New Hampshire, Disney, or another country, she knew how to enjoy life.

Cindy always had many great friends and family. From the fun filled family reunions in Maine, her family in New Hampshire to her friends in Marshfield, Hingham and at Linden Ponds where she lived for the past 6 years. Cindy was a true, caring friend to all she met. Cindy enjoyed the company of others but was also very strong and independent. A planner and caregiver until the end, she ensured her final days would be as peaceful as possible for herself and for her family.

Beloved mother to Shelley Murphy and grandmother to Lily Murphy of Scituate, MA. Sister to Janice (Rea) Younginger, sister-in-law to Rick Younginger and aunt to Courtney and Derek Younginger of Bow, NH. Sister to Ronald Rea of Manchester, NH.
