Claire T. Sullivan

Sullivan, Claire T. (Fanning) of Quincy, died October 14, 2017.

Claire was an incredibly talented woman who excelled in painting, taking care of her extended family, and living life to the fullest.  Home was always central to Claire and she loved the years her family grew up in Hough’s Neck.  She was even known to swim the Quincy Point channel in perfect form.  Claire enjoyed volunteering for over 15 years at the Weymouth Food Pantry, where she made many close friends.  She was a graduate of Quincy High School.  Her hobbies included bowling, reading, history, genealogy, singing, dancing, bird watching, storytelling, and socializing.  She and her late husband John spent over 25 relaxing summers in Sandwich with their family.  She was extremely proud of her husband’s career with the MDC Police.  Claire will be remembered for her infectious laughter, love of people, wisdom, intelligence, and her genuine kindness.

Beloved wife of the late John F. Sullivan, Ret. MDC Police Lt.  Loving mother of Maureen Riley of Quincy, Pat Adams and her husband Ron of Weymouth, Rev. John Sullivan and his wife Jill of Norfolk, and Rev. Claire Sullivan of Lynn.  Sister of Joan Santos of Sandwich, and the late Dorothy Trubiano, Elinor Weeks, Marion Dwyer, Katherine Publicover, Joseph Fanning, and Thomas Fanning.  Cherished grandmother of Dennis, and the late John Abbott, Colleen and Caitlin Riley, Ronald, Michael, and Kevin Adams, Jessica Bain, Daniel Sullivan, Abigail Bain, Gracie, Ashley, and Tyler Sullivan.  Also survived by 18 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Thomas More Church, Braintree at 10 AM.  Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Claire may be made to House of Hope Church, 111 Ocean Street, Lynn, MA 01902.

Additional Information

Please Note:  Claire’s burial service will begin at 12:30 PM at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.  All family and guests will meet on their own at the cemetery.  There WILL NOT be a procession from the church.  Once Mass is over all guests are welcome to spend that hour of time stopping for a cup of coffee prior to meeting at the cemetery at 12:30 PM.
