Christopher J. Lea

Christopher J. Lea of Braintree, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family on March 14, 2024. He was 68 years old.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John and Jeanne Lea (Donahue). Chris proudly served in the Air Force before beginning his career at the US Postal Service. He worked for the Post Office for over 40 years before retiring soon after his cancer diagnosis. Chris enjoyed serving the people of North Weymouth…well some of them. Chris loved nothing more than entertaining his family and friends at his home. There was never a shortage of frozen drinks, food, music, and laughs. Chris was also a passionate football fan, and if you were lucky enough to watch a game with him you probably have some degree of hearing loss.
Chris’s pride and joy, besides his beloved bright red Challenger, was the love of his life Marianne. His love for her was immeasurable, and they had the kind of love that people spend a lifetime searching for. They were the true definition of soulmates. Chris loved his newest title of Papa. He had an instant love for both Nicholas and Andrew. He adored his grandsons immensely and wanted more than anything to watch them grow up.
Beloved husband of Marianne Lea (Heanue) of Braintree. Loving father of Nicole Lea of Weymouth and Christine Lombardo and her husband Frank of Randolph. Proud grandfather of Nicholas and Andrew Lombardo. Cherished brother of Michael Lea and his wife Julie of Georgia, Phillip Lea and his wife Lynn of the United Kingdom, Stephen Lea and his wife Gina of Arizona, Jeffrey Lea and his wife Patricia of Florida, Janine Lea of Mansfield, and John Lea and his wife Belinda Blaney of Millville. Also survived by his beloved cousin Danny Kilroy and his wife Lisa.
A special thank you to the staff at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Weymouth. Especially his nurse, Caitlin, who provided wonderful care to Chris over the past year. He looked forward to seeing her on treatment days.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday 3/20 from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday 3/21 at 10:30 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, 1203 Commercial St. Weymouth. Interment will be private. A luncheon to celebrate Chris’s life will take place at the Mad Hatter Restaurant at 969 Washington Street, Weymouth immediately following mass.
