Beverly Ann Abruzese

Beverly Ann (Reddish) Abruzese, 89, of Weymouth, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 26, 2024, after a long life, well lived.

Beverly and her identical twin sister Barbara were born in Boston and raised in West Roxbury and were the youngest of eleven children, which required their older sisters to all became second mothers. As the youngest of eleven, Bev required a lot of attention, a characteristic she never lost. Being identical twins and the best of friends led to many mischievous moments throughout the years and in the classroom. They both graduated St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Jamaica Plain after attending Notre Dame Academy in Roxbury.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Abruzese of Weymouth; her parents Catherine and William Reddish; and all of her siblings; William Reddish, Dorothy Reddish, Irene Reddish, Leo Reddish, Arlene Hettermann, Collette Donovan, Mary Connelly, Paul “Iggy” Reddish, Harry Reddish and her twin, Barbara Powderly.  She is survived by her children Richard Linehan and his wife Lynn of Hingham; David Linehan of Weymouth; and Ann-Marie Martin and her husband Greg of Canton. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Wesley, Drew, Ryan, Catherine, Billy, Renee, and twenty-seven nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of her beloved husband Lou.

Beverly will always be remembered as a devoted mother. Again with the love and support of her large family, she moved from Connecticut to Weymouth in 1971 as an independent single mother. Through the family, Beverly was introduced to the love of her life Lou and spent 44 wonderful years together. They were longtime members of South Shore Country Club, where they created lasting memories surrounded by family and friends.

Beverly worked for the State of Massachusetts as the secretary to Representative Robert Ambler and was an active Weymouth town meeting member.  She later worked at the Lottery and retired after 30 years of state service. In their retirement years, Bev and Lou travelled with friends and spent winters at Royal Woods in Naples Florida, enjoying their many friendships, playing golf and hosting many dinner parties. Beverly’s last eight years were spent at Linden Ponds, where she lived independently until she could not. With much gratitude, we can say she was cherished and well cared for by all the staff at Linden Ponds.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth Wednesday at 10:30 AM. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.
