Albert J. Oliverio

Albert J. Oliverio of Weymouth died peacefully on December 4, 2017 at the age of 94 with his four loving children at his bedside.

Al was born and raised in Quincy Point and graduated from Quincy High School in 1942. He proudly served for six years in the U.S. Navy. During World War II he was a ship repairman first class. He was stationed in the Philippines as well as several South Pacific islands.  After the war he worked as a pipefitter and coppersmith at Bethlehem Steel in Quincy. He was elected and served as president of the Industrial and Shipbuilders’ Union Local 5 at the Quincy shipyard. Following this he led a successful twenty-five year career as a sheet metal worker with Local 17.

Al met his beloved wife Evelyn Psaros and was married in 1948. Together they shared fifty-six wonderful years raising their four children in their home in North Weymouth. In his spare time, Al was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening. He grew the most beautiful flowers and vegetables starting them all from seed. He loved to cook for family and friends. Al will be remembered as an outgoing storyteller who was loved by many.

Beloved husband of the late Evelyn (Psaros) Oliverio. Devoted father of Joseph M. Oliverio of Weymouth, Bessie Striano and her late husband Joseph of Weymouth, Susan Oliverio and her husband Dennis Smith of Milton, Donna Pompeo and her husband Joseph of Weymouth. Cherished “Papa” to eight grandchildren and “Papa O” to six great-grandchildren. Loving brother of the late Anthony “Buck”, Henry, Carmelo “Kaiser”, Alfred “Chick”, Nicholas “Nicky” Oliverio and sister Mary Johnson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday 4-8 P.M. in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home at 40 Sea Street, North Weymouth.

Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass at St. Jerome Church, North Weymouth at 10:30 A.M.

The burial will be held in the Old North Cemetery, Weymouth.
