Robert P. Hayes

Robert P. Hayes, in Stuart, Florida formerly of Quincy, died July 13, 2018 surrounded by his family.

The beloved husband of the late M. Audrey (Finn) Hayes. Loving father of Susan Rizzotti of Rockland, Marsha Hayes of Stuart, Fl, Doreen Hayward and husband Tim of Quincy, and Robert Hayes and wife Melanie of Tampa, Fl. Also, his loving grandchildren Meaghan & Lauren Rizzotti, Josh Hayward and Colin and Michael Hayes. Son of the late Daniel W. Hayes and Alice (Renton) Hayes. Brother of Dorothy Schofield and late brother in law Thomas Schofield of Squantum. Also, the brother in law to Richard Reinhardt of Fl. and the late sister in law Beverly Reinhardt. He is survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his longtime companion Pat Kyle.

Bob was a longtime Quincy resident. He worked for New England Telephone for 35 years retiring back in 1990. Graduated from North Quincy High School in 1954, where he met the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Audrey Finn. Bob was a member of the Knights of Columbus both in North Quincy and Stuart Florida. He also played semi-pro hockey for the Braintree Black Hawks after graduation. Bob also coached B.C. High Varsity Hockey team from 1984 to 1987 during that time frame, his teams went onto 3 consecutive state hockey tournaments and winning the Catholic Conference Championship for the first time in school history. Bob had a passion for hockey, this love of the sport drove him and his wife Audrey to become the founders of Quincy Youth Hockey Association. Their dream helped rally the Community and many others that would later develop into the Quincy Youth Hockey Arena that touched and inspired so many children. Bob’s goal was to create an organization that not only helped develop athletic skill’s but would also help build confidence and positive relationships that would last for many years. Their effort lives on through the many programs the Quincy Youth Hockey Association has today. It would be difficult to know just how many lives have been touched by Bobs dream. He was an inspiration to the City of Quincy. Bob and Audrey have forever given Quincy Youth Hockey Association kids a place to call home. Bob will be sadly missed, but he will never be forgotten.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 9:15 prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10am . Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.  Donations in memory of Bob may be made to Quincy Youth Hockey, 60 Murphy Memorial Drive, Quincy, MA 02169.
