Harold F. MacKinnon

MacKinnon, Harold F. of Walpole, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 15, 2018.  He was ninety years old.

Harold was born in St. Peters Bay on Prince Edward Island (PEI,) Canada. He spent many years as a family farmer, a fisherman, and a lumberjack before emigrating to the United States in 1961.  He worked for twenty-seven years at General Motors.  In his retirement, he could often be found volunteering at the St. Francis House in Boston or helping out at Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole. An avid hockey fan, he enjoyed following the Montreal Canadiens all of his life.  He was also a supporter of the Patriots, Celtics, and he especially loved the Red Sox. Ultimately, his favorite things in life were his family and friends, both here in the US and in Canada. He was always ready for a game of cards, a walk in the woods, or a visit to the ocean.  Harold will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Harold was married to the love of his life for 53 years, Mary MacKinnon (McDonald) of Walpole.  They were an amazing team. Son of the late Charles and Margaret MacKinnon. Cherished father to Joseph P. MacKinnon of Norwood, Donna M. Corcoran and her husband Stephen of Wrentham, Diane M. MacKinnon and her husband Thomas of Hudson, NH, Lori A. Cetrino and her husband John of Dorchester, and Linda C. MacKinnon and her husband Ryan of Bernardston. Dear “Grampy” to Skyler, Kyle, Sailor, John, Danielle, Evan and Joey. Caring brother to Celia Ann MacInnis of PEI, and the late Joseph Archibald, James Patrick, Kenneth Joseph, Mary Euphemia, Mary Edna, Sara Anastasia, Louis Charles, Daniel Faustinus, and Victor George. He is also survived and dearly loved by many nieces and nephews in the US and Canada.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday, February 20th from 4-8 PM at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, February 21st at 9:15AM prior to the Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Quincy, Wednesday, February 21st, at 10:00 AM.  Harold will then return to his beloved home on PEI, Canada.
