Charles A. Crowley

Crowley, Charles A. ”Charlie”, Jr. of Hingham, passed away June 21, 2017, husband of Ann M. “Nancy” Crowley and their five children, David P. of Fairhaven, MA, Stephen W. of W. Barnstable, MA and Naples, Florida, Jane Crowley Wemyss of Wellesley, MA, Scott M. Crowley of Pocasset, MA and the late Charles A. Crowley 3rd of Chatham, MA, and their spouses, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Charles was the son of the late Josephine (Erwin) Crowley and Charles A. Crowley and brother of Mrs. Mary E. Power of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Mrs. Patricia A. Boyle of Sarasota, FL.

Charles was an Army Veteran of World War 2, serving with the 82nd Airborne. After leaving the Army, he attended Boston College and graduated in 1952. He was a member of the Varsity Club and “Fides” at Boston College.

Charles was a registered professional engineer and was Vice President of the Sippican Corporation, Marion, MA. After many years at the Sippican Corp. he founded and was president of C.A. Crowley Engineering, Inc. of Middleboro, MA. His consulting firm served clients on the Southeast coast of the United States. He was a life member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers as well as the Knights of Columbus of Quincy, MA. Charlie was a director of the New Bedford Institution for Savings for many years until it merged with Fleet Bank. He was also a member of the endowment trust fund of Middleboro, MA. YMCA. Charlie was an avid golfer and a past member of the Country Club of New Bedford as well as the University Park Country Club of Florida. He also was a past member of the Beverly Yacht Club of Marion, MA. He resided in Mattapoisett, MA for many years and was a member of St. Anthony’s Church as well as St. Patrick’s Church in Sarasota, Florida.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Tuesday in The Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:30 PM.
