Janet Bennett

Bennett, Janet of Hull, died February 5, 2016.

She had been Hull’s town clerk since 1980. She assisted her predecessor, Jack Darcy, for 12 years before being elected to the post. In 2008, Bennett was named one of the Commonwealth’s Unsung Heroines by The Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women. The award is given to “women who quietly, without fanfare or recognition, make their communities and the Commonwealth better places.” In addition to her role as town clerk, Bennett also was the selectmen’s office manager.  In her free time, she loved traveling and trips to Foxwoods. She was a private person with a great sense of humor and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
