Joseph L. Metivier

Metivier, Joseph L. of Hingham, died February 4, 2016. 

Joseph Lionel Metivier, was born in Brunswick, ME with a family heritage from Quebec, Canada.  He was admitted to Maine Maritime Academy during his junior year in high school and graduated with a Marine engineering degree.  Upon graduation he was employed by American Transport Lines and served in the Naval Reserve as a second class engineer.  Later, Joe married his lovely late wife, Constance, and resided in Hingham, MA where he had a very successful career at General Dynamics.  His passions were caring for his family, football, and maintaining his home.  During retirement he spent his winters in Marco Island enjoying the surf and sun. His interests included visiting his grandchildren, cooking and volunteering his time for Hingham Elder Services.  Joseph will be remembered for being a fantastic father and a welcome presence in many people’s lives. 

Loving father of Rebecca A. Lynch of Hingham, Mark D. Metivier, and his wife Amy of VA.  Brother of the late Roland Metivier, Theresa Nicholson, Eustelle Graves, and Juliette Hodgkins.  Cherished grandfather of Timothy, Kevin, Sean, Caroline, Joseph, and Julianne.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-7 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10 AM.  Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
