I have known Gerry for a few years through my beloved, Frank Mangan, who played with Gerry in the Hoedowners Show band 60 years ago. Gerry called our home and they reconnected and spoke almost daily on Facetime messenger. We got together on several occasions and each time Gerry brought a shopping bag full of Irish goodies. Frank chided him for this but he still did it. Our last get together was only a few weeks ago when Frank's son was visiting from Ireland. Gerry enjoyed life and despite his numerous, serious medical problems, he remained active, independent and current on life. We will miss him tremendously. RIP dear friend Gerry!

I met Gerry at Citizens Bank He was our Customer and a wonderful friend ( I worked in Charlestown Branch in 2018 where I met him :) ) , so sorry for your lost, I couldn't go to the Funeral services because I am still recovering from covid, but I am in spirit there with all of you. I can say that Gerry will be missed, full of amazing energy, always smiling and his awesome heart. Kindness and Compassion 2 attributes of a good soul. I knew He was kind of sick but didn't know was serious, I talked to him at the end of may because I was planning to come to MA for the summer and visit him (I am living now in Florida with my Husband), well this never happened. I am very sad. I practice Buddhism and I am chanting Nam myoho renge kyo for his eternal happiness! Sending my prayers for all of you. Luzma

Gerry , Thanks for the great memories , you were an absolute gentleman and superb uncle. I remember the days you would bring me to school, yes I always got there late because you had to have your coffee and rasher sambo in the morning when I woke you to bring me to school. I can't remember how many times I got the leather belt in O'Connell's for been late. In fairness you always tried to make up for it by driving like a lunatic ... Great days and beers in Boston when you would always pick me up from Boston airport when I worked over there... I have such fond memories of you from your visits home and my visits there you really looked after me when I was there and I'm so glad I got to visit. my sincere condolences to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing you. Gerry, we were friends for sixty years, or thereabouts! I'll miss you so much; I think we messaged each other daily on WhatsApp in recent years, Sadly, I felt something was amiss when you didn't respond on the 7th: "Elvis has left the building" as you might say! I hope, sincerely, that you are at rest and in peace; you truly deserve to be. Sleep well dear friend, you will not be forgotten!

Gerry, you didn't have the easiest sense of humour to understand, but I loved it! The darkness and the witt, you made me laugh with your old fashioned sayings that were always delivered with perfection! Of I asked how you were, you'd tell me if you "were any better there'd be two of me..." I'm so sorry you were so sick, but it brings great relief that you kept your mind and kind heart throughout. I will miss you so much big brother. You always had great time for me from as far back as I can remember as a kid. The time you took to show me how to polish your precious guitar and when we would cook up stuff together. You taught me how to bar be que way back in the early eighties and always had time to explain to me how to do things if I was going to take on a project involving wood. We had so much fun on our trips to Florida and you were always on breakfast duty then Margarita duty in the evening. French toast will never be the same for me. Sundays will never be the same without chatting to you and no more funny WhatsApps. I will always love you Gerry, sleep in peace with Mam, Dad and Joan XXXX Linda, Gerry, Keith & Karen.

Gerry was my big brother and we had great "craic" on occasions....sorry for his loss to my other brothers and sisters ....Barry-keeping you in our thoughts and prayers! Gale & Frank Ryan
