We have lost an exceptional educator and man. Having spent many years at the Rogers middle school, I can attest to Mike's devotion to our students and faculty. It was a pleasure working with him.

Sending love and prayers to the McCarthy family during this time. I remember Mr. McCarthy, in all interactions, as a kind, gentle man. He will be missed and his legacy clearly will live on for many decades to come.

I would like to send prayers of comfort to the family on your loss of Mr. McCarthy. He was my Middle School principal at the Rogers Middle School. I could hear him yelling my name a mile away, lol. He was a great support and I will always remember him for being a no non-sense type of guy. He definitely managed a tough group of kids in the 80's. I wish I was able to show him who I turned into be. He definitely help with the foundation. Today, I'm happy to share that I'm a icensed social worker with over 25 years experience. He would be so happy that I'm not the boxer he told me I would be, lol. I have so many memories that I will hold dear to my heart. Thank you for sharing a great man with his students. Sorry to hear about Mike. He and I were teammates on Boston State baseball team. He was a great teammate who loved baseball and the Warriors. More importantly, he was a great friend, man, and educator. Sorry for your loss.

I was very fortunate to play 3 years of baseball with Mike at Boston State. He was a very good player but even more he was a wonderful person and very good friend. I want to let his whole family know how sorry my wife Mary, (also went to State with him)and I feel. Our prayers and condolences are with you all.

It is with sincere sympathy that I send this message of condolence for your loss. Mike and I actually started first grade together and then we went on to BC High. After high school we went on separate paths. I am glad we had time at the 50th reunion to catch up on the events since we left high school. Mike was certainly proud of his family and all your accomplishments. Rest in peace Mike.

Maryellen, I'm shocked and saddened to hear of Michael's passing. My prayers are with you and your wonderful family.

Though I did not have the opportunity to know Michael, his brother Jack is a good colleague and friend of mine, going back to the days when he joined the doctoral program at Boston University. I am grateful to Jack for letting us know about what a fine man brother Michael was---his life long contributions to education, family, and community, are extraordinary and will certainly have an enduring impact.
