Condolences to the Family of Barbara O’Connell

2024

I happened upon this obituary when I randomly searched for my favorite teacher from Hunt School. I was a pupil of hers in 1972, grade 4 and still remember her wonderful smile, how she introduced her class to fresh pineapple (fresh? who knew in the 70's when everything was from a can!), along with fresh coconut that she opened herself. She even took us to her home for a field trip. She was extraordinary. Prayers to the family on her passing.

Extremely saddened to have heard about this. Barbara was a great lady, and will be sorely missed. While not a happy thought, she's now with her soul mate Bruce in heaven,

Mrs. O’Connell was the 2nd grade teacher at Union St School for both of our daughters. We loved her! She introduced us to the classroom guinea pig and we adopted Houdini when she retired. We often share fond memories of those days. May wonderful memories be with you in this difficult time. The Ricciuti Family

My two siblings and I all had "Mrs. O'Connell" during the 1980s at Hunt School in Weymouth. We all LOVED her and LOVED being in her class. I had Mrs. O'Connell for fourth grade and enjoyed the year so very much that I became a fourth grade teacher myself. Just like Mrs. O'Connell, after many years in fourth grade, I now teach second grade. Rest in Peace, Mrs. O'Connell. Know you inspired and were truly loved by so many of your students.

So very sorry Kristina. A neighbor for many years and a co-worker at Hunt school. May you rest in peace.
