I was very fond of Kay she was a dear friend to my mum Joan O Rourke ( Nee Mansfield ) & our extended family . They met in the Rotunda Hospital where there was many a story about Nurse O Sullivan & Nurse Mansfield both tall glamorous women ... they certainly ‘ cut a dash ‘ back in the day ! Our deepest sympathies to all the Armstrong & O Sullivan families . Ar Dhéis dé go raibh a anamacha. Gráinne & Kevin

Fond memories of Kay in County Clare in Ireland where she spent many summers with my granny Joan O’Rourke. They were great pals. I loved Kay because she always had a glint in her eye and welcomed mischief at every turn. She always made sure we went out into town and enjoyed ourselves, always persuading Joan it was a good idea! She lived life to the full! A great lust for life Sincere condolences to the Armstrong and O’Sullivan families. Thinking of you all.

Heartbroken to hear of Auntie Kathleen's passing. Auntie Kathleen was so good to me when I was in America. Our feisty O'Sullivan tempeaments led to some spectacular arguments but always punctuated by humour and a touch of wild eccentricity! Kathleen was one in a million. I will miss her. She is with daddy and Helen now and the poems, stories and songs are filling the heavens. My thoughts are with all my Armstrong cousins. Joanne

To the Armstrong Family, I unfortunately have never met any of you (except for Kathleen) but I am very sorry for your loss, and the world is a sadder place for it. I knew Kathleen ("Kay" to me) through my grandmother (Joan O'Rourke) and have vivid and idyllic memories of drinking tea, listening to their nursing war stories and playing cards with them particularly down in Co.Clare. Kay was an incredibly fun and engaging person and brought great laughter and joy to me, my brother Daire and cousin Barry in particular. Kay and I corresponded with letters over the years as I was growing up through my teens and twenties and unfortunately as life has got busier I had not been in touch for quite some time now. Strangely I only thought of her the other day and that makes it all the more disappointing to hear of her passing. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time and I cherish having met Kay, the impact that she had on my life and the fantastic memories that she will remain ever part of. Requiescat in Pace. Is mise le meas, Tiarnan O'Rourke

Dear Danny, Patrick, Una, Colm, Mary, and Catharina, My deepest sympathy for the significant loss of your wonderful mother Kathleen. She was my cherished friend, who generously gave of herself by extending her support, care, kindness, and love. An encounter with Kathleen often led to unexpected adventures and fun. She had a gift for turning an ordinary event into an enriching, memorable experience. Over the years she may have lost stature in her height but continued to grow in her character. I will truly miss her presence. May God bless her beautiful soul. Thoughts, prayers, and condolences to all of her family. Donna Marchetti

Dear Danny, dear Patrick, dear Una, dear Colm, dear Mary and dear Catharina, my deepest and heartfelt condolences to you and your families. You know I owe Kathleen and Colm and you all an enormous debt of gratitude for the friendship and welcome when, a long time ago, I first arrived on your shores, and with so many of my fondest memories associated with 133 Park St. ! If only my children, we all, could have just a fraction of what Kathleen had - her kindness, compassion, strength, spirit and humor! I will miss her. -Jacob, but also from Heather and our children Max and Allegra, all of whom also had the great fortune to have met her

My heartfelt condolences to Dan & Fiona and the Armstrong family on the very sad loss of Kathleen. I met Kathleen a few times in Scituate, when I was visiting from Ireland. She had the gift of the Irish gab and it was an honor to have met her and to spend time in her company. She lit up the room whenever she entered it. Heaven has gained a beautiful Irish Cailín. RIP Kathleen.

It is with sadness that I heard today of Kathleen's death. Our condolences go out to all her family. We remember Kathleen being great fun at our wedding in 1997 which was held in St. Catharine's, Ontario, Canada. Also, as a young person, I would often help Kathleen care for the children and help in other ways. One day she said to me, as we prepared for a party, "now you are going to make a cake" What, me, said I. I had never done any cooking before and, indeed, I made a cake! She will be missed and she was very much part of my life growing up in Massachusetts.
