Condolences to the Family of James P. O’Rourke

2021

This is very sad news as I just learned of Jim’s passing today. We became friends in 1990 on the day I spotted his radio tower and knocked on his door. I soon became a Ham and made many other friends through Jim. I will never forget you, my friend. I know that I will see you again one day. Fair winds and following seas. 73. Catch you on the flip side... Bob KA1WHQ

We are heartbroken, having just learned of Jim's passing from our Dad, his good friend and fellow Navy veteran, Jim Halpin, Sr. During visits to Massachusetts, we enjoyed seeing Jim O'Rourke, sharing our love of dogs and benefiting from his wit, wisdom and lifetime of adventure and service. What a gem! We remember his beloved little lakeside summer cottage, and his tales of travel, and his wife's recovery from stroke. We remember his classic Navy tattoo! Between visits, we were email pen pals with this amazing gentleman, always delighted or moved by his frequent contributions of content that celebrated patriotism, goodness, humor, and of course, love of animals. Jim O'Rourke left a legacy that will be forever treasured by his family and friends! We were honored to know him and will miss him every time we have another email to share that we know he would have loved. He always responded so joyfully! :-( :(

I was a 35 yrs friend, Jim was such a nice man , I believe he wanted to say get out, but he never did! He gave me a nickname which was no Job Johnny ! He made me see light. From no job Johnny to Top of the World. If it wasn't for his goodness and kindness I wouldn't have ever became what I am today!!! He had a code. He was one of the best . Thank you so much my close friend . U never kno what u had til its gone. I went to Penthouse so his voice was in my head. He accepted me for who and what I was , made sure I was ok. As yrs went by made sure he was ok. I always looked up to him as a father figure , and by his living right he showed me same. Jim was definitely a World traveler.
