When heard the news of Patrick's death, I had to reply it in my head over and over. To Patrick's family, please accept my deepest condolences! Met Patrick through his wife Kate. The first thing I noticed was his accent, so he played along and starting talking with his deep Boston accent. Both Patrick and Kate helped me with my boys when I was going through a hard time with divorce. Both my boys love them both, but my younger one, Hunter really looked up to him and always wanted Patrick to play his guitar whenever he was over at their house. Patrick was so patient with both of them - esp my younger one. Patrick is one of the kindest guys I have met - always asked how I was doing and wanted to make sure I knew that he loved both me and my boys. He loved Kate so much, which I saw! Will cherish all the fun times spent with Patrick. You will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. Patrick was full of empathy. I remember when I told him about a health issue I was having and he was the only person who knew exactly what to say and what I really needed to hear. I will always be thankful to him for that. I remember how he lit up around my friend’s kids and what a fun time we had at a summer music concert. I remember the silly things like when my husband had a bonding moment with Patrick over a sweater. I also remember the endearing moments, like when I was the last one left at a party and caught a private moment where Patrick told Kate that she is gorgeous; a beautiful moment made complete with the accent. To the Burton family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I am also a veteran and realize how difficult times were for my family when I was away either in harm's way or safe at a duty station. They always worried about me. There are never any words at a time like this, but, remember that he knew he was loved. I always knew I was wherever I went. May you rest in peace comrade.
