I knew Paul for decades primarily due to our participation in the South Shore Chamber. He will be sorely missed. May peace come quickly to his family.

Having followed my father's footsteps in business, since his passing, I've had frequent memories about how he would deal with issues and conversations with him as I go through my days. Paul was a wonderful, kind man who will be sadly missed. My family has utilized Paul’s services going back many years, beginning with my father. My husband, Paul, enjoyed many hours with Paul at the YMCA Board of Directors Meetings. I loved speaking with Paul on the phone or dropping in for a chat. Dear Barbara and family, it was our pleasure to have known Paul and had the privilege to spend several occasions at BC, New Year's Eve in Boston and our trip to Long Island with you all. During his time as chairman of the South Shore Hospital board, he made a profound, positive impact on our organization — and on the South Shore community as a whole. He will be missed by each one of our colleagues who was fortunate enough to work with him.

Paul and I spoke briefly at a Hyde Park High School reunion some years back. In the Rogers Junior High and and at Hyde Park High, he was a steady presence, a pillar. I am biased enough to say that we grew up at a wonderful time, filled with more opportunity than we realized. As described in the obituary, Paul made the most of it, with an outstanding family legacy. May he rest in peace. Bob Case Hyde Park High class of 1949.

We are so saddened to hear of the passing of Paul. He, Barbara and their wonderful children were friends from our early days in Weymouth as both our children were growing up. I never saw Paul without a smile on his face and a positive, funny, and uplifting something to say. Our sympathy to all of you and your family will always be part of our wonderful memories. Sorry to hear of Paul’s passing ...“Great Guy” always enjoyed our conversations, (though infrequent) over the past 60 odd years... A real Jackson Square and Weymouth Institution!!!

To all the MacElhineys, my deepest sympathy. Mr. MacElhiney was a great man who lived a great life. He was a role model for all fathers on Academy Avenue and will always be a role model for the kids of the neighborhood who grew up to be fathers. I know how much he'll be missed, but that's only because he was an exceptional human being.

Paul and his family were wonderful neighbors, like a second home for me when my family moved to Academy Avenue. I cannot imagine what my life would have been like without them.

It was incredibly sad to hear the news but if there was ever a life to celebrate this is it. I am sure he is with my Dad in Heaven enjoying a bud light while talking about BC vs BU and how much they loved their kids. My prayers are with you all.
