Condolences to the Family of Evelyn G. Hines

2021

❤️Mrs. HInes, Rest In Peace. I remember her respectfully and kindly from several decades during the 1960s through the mid-1990s. Memories of her friendship with my mom in the 1960s, the two of them getting together for coffee and cigarettes (until some long forgotten issue regarding Joey not playing with Chris), her organizing neighborhood kids to practice for Christmas caroling, helping me with my disastrous sewing, her kindnesses toward me and my son Matthew.

I hardly know where to begin here to express my sympathy to my godmother Evie, godmother to both my brother Mark and me. The whole Hines family and my Johnson family were so close in the 60s. I still have the 8mm movies my dad took and Mom put on CD, showing us all having dinner together. Now all of our parents are gone, along with 2 of my siblings. Evie had that infectious laugh that was mentioned in her obituary and I can still hear it. Cheri, you were my best friend for years. I was profoundly saddened by Eddie's death a few years ago. I saw Chris (Eddie's exact image!!) at my mom's services in February. The friendship between our families is a cherished part of my childhood memories. I wish you all peace as you proceed through life without the light of your parents. God rest Evie's soul and may you all find peace in your memories. Much love, Donna (Johnson) Knight

To the entire Hines family our deepest and heartfelt sympathy in the loss of one sweet lady. Our hearts are broken, Evie was a wonderful woman, loving wife and mother who raised 8 wonderful children that exceeded in life through her encouragement, guidance and loving care. Her sense of humor, great smile and laughter would light up room. Always there to assist with tremendous energy to not only her large family but friends and neighbors. A genuine caring and kind lady whom was always kind to my father and my family and touched more hearts than we will ever know. She will always remain in our hearts with fond memories. God bless you and rest in peace. We love you.

I never knew anyone more adventuresome and game to try anything than Evie. Always so much fun to be with, and so loving. That laugh that could be heard from the phone when she and my mom had their three hour conversations (most infamously) while Evie H was wallpapering at the same time! Her jam-packed care packages and birthday gifts, complete with candy in every corner of the box. The hysterically funny and delightful stories my mom used to tell me about Evie when she was a mischievous little girl. But my best times with Evie were when I got to visit with her in these later years. We had an awful good time, and lots of laughs. There are no words for how much I miss her. I just hope the two Evie‘s are up there together laughing again. Maybe in a quiet moment we will hear them. Much love to her wonderful, caring family, and the friends that loved her, too.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the entire Hines family. Evie was always happy and always laughing. I saw her at the camp about two years ago and I’ll never forget all the good times we shared.

Such a beautiful tribute to her, she clearly loved her family and friends so very much and lived life to the fullest. I even saw Freckles, I think! My memories of "Aunt Evie" were as a child, living across the street on Ridgewood Terrace. She was always so loving, welcoming and her and Ed were such good friends to my parents, Stanley & Anita Scott . You are all in my heart and on my mind during this major life change. Sally Scott

To all the Hines, Your Mom was the most warm and giving person She was there for us when my dad died. Always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone that need help. Loved her sense of humor, always laughing. She always made you feel welcomed in your house. When I babysat you, she always tell me where there were goodies hidden for me to enjoy. She would check to see if I had eaten any of them later when she came home. If I didn't eat any get so upset. There are so many stories I can remember about living next door to you and it was a wonderful time in my life. So sorry for your lose. Your mom was a wonderful lady Love ANN

Sorry to hear of her passing my condolences to all the children and grandchildren. A special woman and aunt. I have many memories with 2 that will stand out. Her and my dads laughter cascading across the lake!! Aunt Evie also routinely sent care packages for years to my oldest son when he had childhood leukemia and always made him feel special when we were up the lake. She will be missed but we will cherish the memories.
